In the first semester, you will learn methods to identify new technologies outside the company and to assess the relevance of these technologies to the company. This process requires the ability to understand many different technologies e.g. information technology, product design and renewable energy technology. You will, therefore, be trained in making yourself acquainted with new technologies and in acquiring a broad insight in most engineering technical areas. The ability to create technological input for the company, through networks, is also trained. Furthermore, you will train how to pass on knowledge in the company so that a learning environment is created in order to strengthen employees’ willingness to accept new technologies.
In the second semester, you will learn to identify the employee qualifications at group level which are necessary to promote technological innovation and business innovation. You thus learn to identify and change the company culture so that the organisation becomes more market-oriented and divergent-minded. The future company culture should, thus, ensure the continuous generation and implementation of new initiatives which can improve the company’s market position. You learn about subjects such as the management system, organizational structure and organizational development as well as the employees’ personality mix and roles.
In the third semester, you will learn about business development based on technological innovative products. You will study at a foreign university. AU Herning has agreements with a number of different partner universities that will provide you with knowledge in the fields of: Product Management, Business Development, Product Design, Technology Sourcing or Supply Chain Management.
In the fourth semester, you will write a dissertation project for your mentor company in which theoretical focus and professional contents are mainly based on the first two semesters of the study programme.
In generel, the study programme will be revised continiously.
Graduates will be able to generate innovative product concepts, business concepts and new business areas. An MSc in Engineering (Technology Based Business Development) is typically employed as a business developer, project manager or system developer. Typically, he or she will work in innovation oriented service- and production companies as well as in knowledge institutions and other kinds of public organisations.
