Overview

MSc in physiotherapy is a full time programme that lasts two years and gives you an accelerated route into the profession.

It is a preregistration course, which means you do not need to have studied physiotherapy at undergraduate level to enrol.

Instead, you just need a first degree in a related subject like a biological, behavioural, or sports science, for example.

During the programme you will undertake a practice placement to give you the hands-on experience you need to begin your career.

On successful completion of the course you will be entitled to apply to register to practise with the Health and Care Professions Council.

At the core of this physiotherapy MSc masters degree course is the exercise of clinical judgement and informed interpretation.

You will be mentored to become a better clinician, educator, evaluator and manager throughout your time with us.

You will be based at our multidisciplinary faculty, where there is a strong emphasis on collaborative learning.

There you will have the opportunity to learn from a wide range of clinical experts, as well as those who specialise in physiotherapy.

You will also be encouraged to learn both independently and also from your colleagues in order to develop your knowledge and skills.

In addition, your learning will be supported by close contact with our Rehabilitation and Health Technologies research group; giving you access to the latest scientific discoveries.

This masters in physiotherapy is a demanding programme of core modules; all of which must be completed successfully in order to pass.

You will also need to successfully complete practice placements, which last a minimum of 1000 hours, under the supervision of a qualified physiotherapist.

Finally, you will be required to devise and complete a research study, which you will then publish as a journal paper.
