Overview

Did former European Commissioner for Competition, Neelie Kroes, back down when she made her case against software giant Microsoft? Or did the International Criminal Tribunal of the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) let Radovan Karadzic get away with alleged atrocities in Srebrenica, even after a trial that took over eight years? It’s this positive mind-set and inexhaustible devotion to the law that sets our International and European Law students at The Hague University of Applied Sciences (THUAS) apart. This programme is specifically designed to be your springboard to a career as a successful legal professional in an increasingly international field.

The four-year International and European Law programme taught in English will equip you with the professional competencies for an international high-flying legal career.

In years one and two, you’ll unravel international court cases through theory, hands-on group projects and expert guest lectures from our extensive network. In year three, you can specialise in a legal field. You’ll go on an exchange before completing the programme with an internationally orientated internship and thesis. Throughout the four years we’ll drip feed you legal analysis, advisory skills, representation, decision making, regulation, management, organisation and legal communication.

Career opportunities

When you complete the degree programme you could become a trade policy analyst, researching trade-related policies at the OECD in Paris. But as a young professional, you do much more. You’ll discover the culture at your company and what the profession does on a daily basis. You’ll attend meetings and company parties. You’ll also learn all there is to know about your market – the latest developments, the competition and what they do.

What will you become:
Compliance officer
Legal researcher
Project worker
Legal advisor
Legal assistant
Trainee solicitor
Policy analyst
