Overview

Our brain contains many ingenious networks of billions of interconnected neurons. Together, they have an information processing capacity and flexibility that far exceeds modern supercomputers, or any artificially intelligent system. In this specialisation, the aim is at unraveling the neuro-computational mechanisms of this fascinating, complex system using experimental approaches, advanced theory, and computational models.

Master’s Neurophysics: something for you?

- Study the neurocomputational mechanisms of functional neural circuitry in the brain
- Study at the Donders Centre for Neuroscience
- Combine your passion for Neuroscience with solid physics and data science
- Courses have a strong focus on experimental and theoretical research methods.
- Students are very satisfied with this study programme. (source: Elsevier 2019)
- The students rate this Master’s programme 8,1 out of 10 according to the National Student Survey 2019.
- In this specialisation, you can incorporate the synergy track Computational and Data Science.

Programme structure

The Master’s specialisation in Neurophysics is taught at the Faculty of Science. It has a course load of 120 EC* (two years). See the structure of the programme here.

Career opportunities

The Master’s specialisation in Neurophysics gives you the chance to work at the Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour, and build up your own network of internationally renowned scientists who are working on the human brain: excellent preparation for a future career in science.
