Overview
This course prepares you for the challenges of integrating the digital world to drive smart factories and advanced manufacturing. You’ll graduate as a modern engineer, able to maximise the opportunities offered by the latest advances in automation, connectivity and software.
You’ll examine new developments in the Internet of Things (IoT) era – the growing interconnection of smart devices, sensors and digital systems, able to transfer data without human input. These advances are leading us into the next two phases of industrial development. While Industry 4.0 achieves new levels of automation, monitoring and self-diagnosis, Industry 5.0 seeks to improve interaction and cooperation between people and machines.
As organisations in the UK and worldwide are keen to benefit from these greater efficiencies, multi-disciplinary engineers with industrial systems skills are increasingly in demand.
This course will provide the knowledge and practical skills you need to develop your career, studying topics like engineering design, industrial technology and engineering management. You’ll learn how to enhance the latest developments in connectivity to create real-world solutions – skills that are becoming vitally important in modern industry.
