Overview

Creative Media and Film Production covers a broad combination of creative and film areas. You will learn how to design and create across a range of digital platforms to develop your concepts into reality.

Your creativity and film making and production skills, together with your development of digital skills and visual communication will allow you to tailor your course to suit your interests and career aspirations.

Using a broad range of traditional, digital and visual communication techniques, you will develop innovative, interdisciplinary final year projects that draw together your interests across both courses.

In combination, these subject areas are well worth considering if you are interested in the wider application of digital design and video across media and if you are looking for a degree that will provide you with a wide-ranging suite of visual communication skills in preparation to enter the job market.

Career opportunities

Creative Media has employability is at the heart of its course, with extensive industry links and live professional projects in collaboration with national organisations, expert guest speakers, and a commercially-experienced specialist staff team. Employers highly value multi-skilled creatives, with the visual communication skills necessary to produce effective campaigns across all digital media for a variety of audiences. Through our industry links, we have achieved a very high graduate employability rate. This course also provides an ideal base from which to go on to postgraduate study. In a Destinations Survey carried out by the University of Worcester Careers Service, 97% of Creative Media students had found work or had gone on to further study within six months of graduating.

Typical career routes into media from Film Production include employment in production companies working in TV, film or commercial production, further specialised training in a specific industry-related job role, working as a freelancer, or setting up your own small business. Our multi-strand course gives you the opportunity to take your study in a particular direction and/or to achieve a portfolio of skills and knowledge that is attractive to potential employers and clients. The array of transferable skills associated with the subject ensures that graduates are well qualified for a range of alternative career paths.
