Overview
Delve into the world of built spaces and the people that inhabit them. Through this course you’ll gain practical knowledge of materials, a heightened awareness of the made environment and a chance
to apply your learning on real industry projects.
Based in our high-specification studios, you’ll grow and develop through a series of modules exploring practical skills such as design, drawing and model making. You’ll be encouraged to explore the full range of what interior design is — starting with decoration and styling, through to interior architecture and the remodelling of existing buildings. culminating in commercial design and branding. You’ll then choose an area of specialism, developing a portfolio of work to underpin your career after graduation.
Programme structure
*Year One *
The first year is similar to doing a foundation degree in Interior Design. We look at all aspects of interiors. from the decorative through to commercial interiors and interior architecture. It’s all about learning to think, draw and model interior space.
Through lectures, tutorials and site visits, you’ll have an immersive year. understanding the nature of the interior design industry. A history and theory programme supports this experience and is an essential part of developing a wider knowledge of the built environment.

*Year Two *
Your second and third years allow you to develop your own particular interests. You’ll delve into the world of materials while also taking part in the industry mentor scheme, giving you the opportunity to gain valuable contact with an inspirational individual from the design world.
Throughout year two there will be site visits, international field trips and the opportunity for exchange study programmes with universities from countries as diverse as Japan and Australia.

Your third year is all about developing a specialism within interior design. creating projects and a portfolio of work that leads to the right job. The course culminates in a degree show of your work. supported by a dissertation where you get to think about, write about and do design. This acts as a springboard for entering the world of design as a paid professional.
