Overview

Whether you are interested in transistors, integrated circuits or quantum engineering, our Electronic Engineering with Nanotechnology programme will give you the specialist skills at the interface of electronics and physics required to work on modern nanoscale device fabrication.

With our electronic engineering programmes ranked number two by The Guardian University Guide 2016, you can look forward to high quality teaching and learning during your time as a student with us. We focus on applying theory to real engineering problems and technologies, combining professional engineering skills with scientific research methods.

After a firm grounding in electrical science and electronics, you will learn about quantum science and nanotechnology, power and energy efficient electronic devices, and production and characterisation of nanomaterials such as graphene manufacturing quantum engineering. You will also get the chance to work with academics in our Advanced Technology Institute through project work.

Career opportunities

A career in electronic engineering offers variety, challenge and stimulation.

Studying for a degree in Electronic Engineering with Nanotechnology is not just the pathway to a rewarding career, but also offers an intellectually demanding and exciting opportunity to break through boundaries in research.

Many of the most remarkable advancements in the past 60 years have only been possible through the curiosity and ingenuity of engineers.

Graduate electronic engineers are in demand, not only in research and development but also in the City, in technical sales, management, and government and public services.

Graduates from the Department have a consistently strong record of gaining employment with leading companies.
