Overview
This degree will provide you with in-depth knowledge about how ideas about power, strategy and militarism, diplomacy and foreign policy-making, empires, colonialism and liberation movements, intelligence, subversion and counter-insurgency, propaganda and international communications, culture, gender and race have combined to shape the international environment; in which we now live. This degree explores the forces that have shaped contemporary global politics. From the roles of individual leaders like Churchill, Stalin and Mandela to the social, economic and ideological forces that have shaped ordinary people’s lives, this degree will help you understand the formative events of the 19th and 20th century world.
The BA International Politics and International History is a fascinating single honours degree course designed to equip you with a thorough knowledge of global politics in its history context. You will analyse key debates and theories regarding politics on the international stage, and you will strengthen your understanding by reviewing the sweeping historical context of worldwide events that shape the subject.
The course draws upon a range of different study topics including War, Strategy and Intelligence; Power and Inequality in the Third World; and Regional Politics in Europe and beyond.
