Overview
In choosing to study Environmental Science at Aberystwyth University’s you will you will be part of the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences, one of the largest and most dynamic departments of its kind in Britain. The Environmental Science (F750) scheme focuses on past, present and future environmental processes and their complex interactions with human activities. The scheme aims to provide a scientific basis for understanding the Earth System (biological, chemical and physical) and the impacts of humankind on natural processes, coupled with investigation into the societal response to both natural and human-induced environmental issues and the ways in which they are managed.
By studying Environmental Science you will develop your practical as well as academic skills which employers in the environmental sector are increasingly seeking.
The BSc in Environmental Science provides fundamental and applied understanding at the intersection of Geography, Biology and Earth Sciences. You will gain an in-depth understanding of the natural processes that control the different geospheres (lithosphere, hydrosphere, biosphere, atmosphere) on Earth, and will examine the impact of human activity upon the environment with a view to understanding how best to address modern environmental problems.
Career opportunities
Your BSc in Environmental Science will ideally place you to enter the workplace as monitors and managers of the environment in a whole range of contexts (e.g. national parks, planning departments, environmental consultancies etc.). It will open up a range of exciting opportunities for employment and further training.
