If you are fascinated by the relationship between humans and the natural and physical world and looking for a degree that explores significant global environmental challenges from natural disasters and climate change, through to the human world of development, sustainable cities and industry then Environmental Geography is the degree for you.
With internationally respected research academics embedding their unique insights directly into the modules you study, you will gain the knowledge, expertise and practical experience needed to find creative solutions to complex environmental problems and contentious issues.
Upon graduation from this programme you will be able to develop a career in many areas (such as sustainability, greening business, environmental management, or conservation) allowing you to fulfil your passion and make a difference to the world we live in.
Your course in brief
You will begin with a broad foundation that combines a wide range of topics in environmental geography.
You will build a detailed knowledge and understanding of specific subjects, offering a range of module options to allow you to specialise in topics that directly relate to your interests.
(optional year): You will go out on industrial placement to put the skills you have learned in the previous modules into professional practice, or on study abroad.
You will work on a project, and will have a choice of modules to study such as environmental engagement, conservation management and advanced geospatial applications.
With an emphasis on employability, this course develops you to be a well-rounded graduate with the ability to both think independently and work as a constructive member of a team. You will be able to analyse situations and to find creative solutions to current environmental problems.
On graduation you will have the knowledge and practical experience necessary to enable you to enter into a range of careers. Our previous graduates have gone into careers in sustainability, environmental management, and conservation, and fields as diverse as housing, cartography, pollution control, urban regeneration, local government, overseas development and teaching.
