Aberystwyth University’s BA in Creative Arts is an innovative degree that allows you to cross traditional disciplinary boundaries and discover the breadth of your own creative potential. This degree will equip you with skills, judgment and knowledge across three key strands of creative activity: Art & Design, Language & Writing, Performance & Production. You will have opportunities to explore your creativity through each of these areas and to experiment with the familiar and the new, as you move towards specialization in your chosen field of expertise.
This highly-flexible programme unites critical thinking and creative practice, giving you the chance to develop your own creativity alongside a deep engagement with the scholarly disciplines of criticism and analysis. There is a strong vocational dimension which provides opportunities for work-based learning and a direct engagement with the vibrant creative community that Aberystwyth enjoys.
Our aim is to stimulate, encourage and challenge your creativity. Our Creative Arts degree is designed to cultivate critical debate and innovative practice, and to kindle your imaginative vision whilst delivering knowledge and skills that will be invaluable wherever your future takes you. As a Creative Arts student you will benefit from the expertise of our outstanding staff of successful practitioners drawn from across the creative disciplines, and the superb facilities which are available to you in Aberystwyth, the renowned cultural and creative capital of Wales. We live and work in a bilingual community and this day-to-day experience is reflected in our creative work and our teaching. Whatever language you chose to work in, by the end of your degree you will have not only a portfolio of exceptional creative material but also the skills and attributes to flourish in any workplace that demands creative thinking and critical creativity.
The creative industries are some of Britain’s most vibrant economic areas currently growing at twice the rate of the general economy. The staff who will teach you are practicing artists, authors, arts administrators and performers in their own right and their extensive links with the creative industries – locally, nationally and internationally – will support your development throughout your degree.
We are currently NOT ACCEPTING applications from NON-EU countries, except Georgia and Serbia.
