Overview

If you enjoy experimenting with the creation of images, videos, music, electronics, software or code, this is the programme for you.

Digital Arts will appeal to students with an artistic flair who are fascinated by the creative potential of emerging technology and want to make work that confidently applies it in new and exciting ways.

Programme structure

Year 1
Students are required to study the following compulsory courses.

Creative Coding (30 credits)
Media Technologies (30 credits)
Experimental Studio Practices (30 credits)
Visual Culture (30 credits)

Year 2
Students are required to study the following compulsory courses.

Making and Curating (30 credits)
Creative Interactions (30 credits)
Interactive Storytelling (30 credits)

Students are required to choose 30 credits from this list of options.

Sound and Image (30 credits)
Animation Principles (30 credits)

Year 3
Students are required to study the following compulsory courses.

Advanced Projects (60 credits)

Career opportunities

The programme will prepare you for careers in established and emerging creative industries based around digital technology. Areas of employment include motion graphics for TV, film and computer games; transmedia authoring and production; projection mapping and interaction design for live events and performance; digital sound and music production; and creative computer coding. You will develop a sense of curiosity, experimentation and imagination highly valued by organisations looking to harness the creative potential of digital technology.

You will also have the necessary skills and knowledge to progress to postgraduate study.
