Overview

This two year In-Company course is ideal if your approach to learning is more practical. Subject to securing a two year placement, you will be employed full-time for two years of the course, which will challenge and test you, but ultimately provide you with insights, experience and skills that will give you a distinct advantage over other graduates.

We also offer a one year In-Company course, where students will spend just the second year employed full-time. The content for each course is the same; it is just the delivery methods that differ.

Whichever course route you choose, you will graduate within three years, with a distinctive degree, and some impressive industry experience.

Why choose this course?
This course is focused on the development of your management potential and employability, and uses work-based and experiential learning to get you ahead of the game.
While work-based you will learn by doing and will develop your understanding of, and insight to, management and managing. You will also develop your personal and professional skills.
The outcomes of the course are valued by employers and graduate recruiters, meaning you will be well placed to secure employment on graduation and progress quickly within management.
Excellent placement opportunities which have previously included Barclays, Rolls Royce, Toyota, ASDA and Tesco.
Creating successful graduates
100% of students are employed in graduate level jobs six months after graduation.**

A high percentage of these students are in graduate or professional roles with many placement and partner companies taking students back, or offering them follow on roles for after graduation.

Graduates from this course have gone on to secure roles with well-known employers such as Asda, Barclays, Boots, KPMG, Rolls Royce, Toyota and Sony, undertaking positions such as Assistant Branch Manager, Brand Manager, Business Analyst, Digital Account Executive, Trainee Surveyor and Junior Buyer.

How will I learn?
Your first year of study will incorporate traditional modes of learning such as lectures and seminars, alongside business simulations, enterprise and project work, company projects and development plans and reports.

Your second year will be the start of your two year ‘learning in the work-place’ period, meaning you will be employed full-time and will also complete a set of modules and assignments during this time. Your study is supported via 2-3 week study blocks and you will return to Nottingham Business School to complete these. You will be further supported when in-company by tutors, academic and company mentors and the use of at distance tools / techniques.

During your placement the majority of your assignments will be based on your own work and that of the placement company, as well as your own learning and development. This will enhance your knowledge and insights and career potential.

How will I be assessed?
The assessment methods we use reflect the course learning outcomes and the work-based nature of the course. Most assessments are practice focused and will include:

individual and group coursework and presentations
investigative and problem focused reports
learning and development portfolios
journals and reports
showcase events and consultancy project
case studies and action oriented research projects
related activities.
When learning in the work-place, the course and assessment design is of benefit to both you and your placement company as the majority of your assignments will be based on your own work and that of the placement company.

Unlike traditional four-year placement degrees learning during this time will count towards your final degree.

Where will I study?
When studying full-time you will attend lectures and seminars at NTU’s City site, in the impressive Newton building, home to Nottingham Business School.

Virtual learning environment
You will have access to our virtual learning environment, NOW, which is a flexible web-based system that gives you 24-hour access to module learning materials and reading lists. It allows you to discuss work with tutors and submit coursework electronically from anywhere in the world.
