Overview
In a world that seems to always be facing rapid change one of the few constants is the need for all organisations and business to have a clear understanding of their financial position. This applies from the smallest to the largest of enterprises and across all sectors.
Marketing is all around us and with thousands of messages and brands competing for a share of our attention on a daily basis only the best are likely to have an impact. But how do marketers develop these ideas, in what way do consumers behave and respond to these messages?
Based on a campus that’s a stone’s throw from the beach and surrounded by a diverse range of environments, businesses, brands and luxury brands, there really isn’t a better place to study Marketing and Finance.
Programme structure
This course explores a range of marketing principles and contemporary issues to get to the heart of what marketing is, how it works, how to build successful strategies and deploy effective campaigns.
The BA (Hons) in Marketing and Finance has been completely updated for the 2014 academic year to reflect changes in the business environment and to reflect changing student needs. Starting with an underpinning of the marketing mix in the first year, with assessment based on real life marketing problems, students continue their studies with modules investigating the psychology of consumer behaviour and the contemporary world of branding, before analysing the components of digital marketing strategies and choosing whether to specialise in areas of sports, luxury or not-for-profit marketing. To complement your marketing learning you’ll also have the opportunity to add finance modules to your course content. The final year modules in global marketing and integrated marketing communications are studied alongside your management report, prior to undertaking a marketing internship for 10 weeks or 2 optional taught modules.
Career opportunities
Our graduates are employed in a variety of marketing roles, such as product management, digital marketing, marketing communications, sales, market research, event coordinators, event managers, customer service, social marketing, direct marketing and public relations.
There are also graduates who use the skills gained through their degree to start up their own events business or work in an associated field where the marketing discipline is vital in their career progression such as publishing, broadcast media, travel and tourism, event management, printing and the service industries.
We have accreditation for the CIM Graduate Gateway against our BA (Hons) Marketing degree. Students will be exempt on an APL basis from L4 Marketing and L6 Strategic Marketing.
