Overview
This joint degree route allows students to choose modules from the BA (Hons) Creative Writing degree programme and add them onto the popular BA (Hons) Theology and Religious Studies programme.
At the heart of our Theology and Religious Studies BA (Hons) degree is the idea of advanced religious literacy: the knowledge needed to be an expert on Christian theological, biblical and religious matters in the world today.
We will teach you critical thinking, self-reflection, how to read important texts in detail, and respect for different viewpoints and opinions.
You will have the opportunity to explore Christian theology and the Bible in-depth, examine a range of religious traditions such as Islam and Buddhism and discuss major ethical and philosophical questions.
Programme structure
We are committed to educating you to your full potential so that you can contribute to the good of society.
We teach you how to explore fundamental ethical and philosophical questions, and how to investigate the place of religion in society. We teach you how to read important texts in detail and how to analyse and think critically. We teach you how to refine and develop your own ideas and how to respect the views and opinions of others. We ask the questions that matter, ranging from: how do I live well and be happy; who was Jesus?; does God exist?; what do Muslims really believe?; and how can society be justly organised?
