Overview
International Business Management aims to provide you with a broad, analytical and integrated study of business processes specifically geared to global issues such as international strategy and cross-cultural management. It is ideal for those wishing to pursue a general business management degree, with the added benefit of a global outlook and international orientation.
The programme combines mainstream management modules such as financial accounting and marketing with modules exclusively designed for international business. Globalisation of Emerging Markets, for example, offers a comprehensive look at the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) as well as South Africa and Eastern Europe as they integrate with the global economy. The programme will enhance your understanding of multinational companies and their strategies, as well as exploring how ‘local’ companies compete against such global players. You will also receive training on how to understand and benefit from cultural differences and have the opportunity to explore the ethics of international business.
The Surrey Business School has a strong global reputation and you will benefit from the fact that this programme is taught by international staff. Furthermore, our international exchange programme enables you to optimise your learning in your first semester of Level 2 by spending time at one of our partner universities in Europe, the Americas, Australia and the Far East. We have excellent links with industry and outstanding opportunities to enhance your employability on our renowned Professional Training year, which can also be done abroad. Many of our students gain their first employment position as a direct result of their Professional Training year.
In the final year you will be introduced to international business strategy through the use of real-life examples, allowing you to consolidate the skills that you have learnt throughout your programme. You will have a number of optional modules from which to choose particular aspects of business management that interest you and fit best with your career aspirations.
We are one of only 14 business schools in the UK to hold accreditation from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and the Association of MBAs (AMBA).
