Overview

Prerequisite: HND or Foundation Degree in an equine related subject This modular, one-year scheme leads to the award of a BSc (Hons) degree. It has been designed specifically for those who have successfully completed an HND or Foundation Degree in equine studies. To gain entry to the scheme you will need to have achieved merit level, or above, in at least 75% of the credits in your HND, or have passed an approved Foundation Degree. You will study a combination of modules including equine management, equine breeding and genetics, equine nutrition, applied animal behaviour and welfare, equine business management and equine performance physiology. You also prepare a dissertation or a literature review on a subject of your own choice which contributes to your final assessment, and allows you to pursue a topic of particular interest in depth.

Career opportunities

This scheme equips you for the management and supervision of equine enterprises in the UK and abroad, and for a wide range of advisory, commercial and educational work in the equine and rural sector.
