Northumbria’s Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) will equip you with the skills and attitude required for a highly successful career – not only at the Bar – but across the legal profession, business and politics.
We teach skills in small groups, enabling great student-staff contact. The teaching team for our BPTC course is composed mostly of experienced barristers and solicitors. You will therefore benefit from the highest quality of practice-informed teaching, as well as feedback tailored to your individual developmental needs.
Northumbria Law School’s outstanding facilities, including our mock courtrooms and extensive IT provision, will enhance your learning experience. You will also have the unique opportunity of applying to study in our award-winning Student Law Office, delivering real legal representation, in real cases to real clients.
Northumbria Law School has close links with the Bar and judiciary of the North East, which provides excellent opportunities for mini-pupillage and marshalling. Additionally, students on our BPTC course have the opportunity to compete for our excellent overseas legal placements.
Your career is our priority. We will prepare you for job interviews (pupillage or otherwise) with mock interviews, an exercise which has yielded notable results. In all respects, you will leave our Bar Professional Training Course (BPTC) as a highly accomplished and highly attractive employment prospect.
