Your portfolio should include evidence of the processes behind final work (e.g. drawing and sketches; try to include observational drawings and Computer Aided Design (CAD) work), examples of processes and techniques (e.g. dyeing, screen printing, digital printing, woven textiles or special finishing techniques), and images of your final work (e.g. either exhibitions or photo-shoots). Please include a variety of projects in your portfolio. Your portfolio should not exceed six pages in length or ten megabytes in size.
The MA Textile Design at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, provides a programme in which you can develop your skills and knowledge in your field of interest. The programme equips you with both the practical skills and the intellectual framework, appropriate to your specialism, to allow you to work competently at a master’s level. It provides you with the tools to engage with your field, to take part in current debates regarding the issues influencing it and to judge your own outcomes within this context.
This programme will prepare you for further research or practice, drawing on your creativity and knowledge. You will develop critical thinking skills, refine your textile design skills and undertake design research. You will acquire a critical understanding of your subject from different cultural and professional perspectives, and benefit from our industrial links.
