Overview
Mechatronics brings together precision mechanics, electronics, controls and computer engineering through a process of integrated design. It involves creating a wide range of technologies such as sensors, actuators, interface hardware, control systems, software, and analogue and digital electronics. The applications for these technologies affect all our lives and can be found everywhere: aircraft, cars, trains, healthcare, materials processing, advanced manufacturing systems, defence systems, consumer electronics and more. Using the latest tools and our specialist labs, you’ll follow the same route as BEng students, but in your extra year you’ll study advanced modules such as sustainability and smart systems engineering, manufacturing strategy and embedded control systems.
Career opportunities
Employment prospects are excellent, with graduates having the flexibility to work in almost any engineering company in the UK or abroad. MEng graduates can expect to be in senior managerial positions within a few years.
