Aerospace systems engineers need to be multidisciplined and have as much knowledge of avionics as aeronautical systems. They’re particularly interested in the overall performance of aircraft, specialising in the design and integration of mechanical and avionics systems. This professionally accredited course includes not only traditional aeronautical disciplines, but also specialist modules such as modern navigation equipment, cockpit instrumentation, flight controls and logistics engineering. A highlight of the course is the group project in the Final Year, where you’ll collaborate with other aerospace students to design a complete aircraft. This course provides the first step towards chartered engineer status.
Employment opportunities for graduates are excellent across both the civilian and defence sides of the aerospace industry. Previous graduates have found employment with major aerospace companies in the UK and abroad as well as with smaller companies in the aerospace supply chain.
