This popular programme gives you a thorough grounding in English law and the disciplines and constraints it imposes on business practice, opening up career opportunities across many diverse areas.

Programme structure

First year

The compulsory law modules you will study in your first year are:

Legal Skills and Methods
Public Law
Law of Contract
Criminal Law
You will also study Business Studies modules (Introduction to Financial Analysis, Business Organisation and Management, Introduction to Marketing and Introduction to Economics).

Second year

In your second year you’ll take compulsory law modules in:

Law of Torts
Legal Foundations of the European Union
Land Law
Legal Communication and Writing
Law in Action II
You will also study Business Studies modules (Financial Decision Making, International Economy, Human Resource Management and Global Marketing).

Year abroad
You can apply to study abroad for a year in an approved university around the world. If you achieve a grade of 2.1 or above in your first year then you will be invited to apply for a Year Abroad in your second year. If your application is successful, you will go abroad in your third year and return to us for your final year. Find out more.

Final year
In the final year you will choose 4 optional law modules from those available to all final-year LLB students. You will also study compulsory Business Studies modules in Strategic Management, Supply Chain Management, Innovation Management and Corporate Finance.

Career opportunities

CEPLER is developing new and innovative approaches to teaching to give you experience of real world law. So far, we have introduced two new practice-based modules: Regulation of the Legal Profession, which will encourage you to question assumptions about lawyers and their role in society; and Advocacy, which covers a range of skills such as mooting, negotiation and mediation, along with court observations and presentation skills development.
