Overview
Learn how to make films by making your own. The course will give you a wide range of professional skills in post-production, cinematography, sound design and directing, using a dedicated film studio and a range of editing and grading suites; all of a professional standard. Our ethos is both to push your individual creativity while also training you to work professionally when you leave us.
You’ll be mentored by staff who are active filmmakers themselves and whose work has screened internationally. Several team members are BAFTA-winners and nominees. Our guest lecture series runs throughout the year and includes a diverse range of speakers: Sarah Hauldren, Art Director Evita, Luke Rainey, Colorist – Band of Brothers, Simon Haslett, VFX – Harry Potter VII, Titanic, Nik Powell, Head of NFTS (National Film and Television School) and David Morrissey- Actor, The Walking Dead.
All of your skills will be put into practice on placements at companies like Aardman Animations, Films at 59, Working TItle, BBC Bristol and Wounded Buffalo. To expand an awareness of the short film market, regular trips to festivals have included Encounters Bristol, IDFA Amsterdam, Berlinale Germany, Fantastporto Portugal and the European Short Film Festival in Paris.
In 2018 we won the Royal Television Society NAHEMI award for best film, and in 2019 we won best comedy and best production design for ‘Delicious Love’.
