In today’s highly interconnected world, information and communication technologies (ICTs) are crucial to the successful operations of any business. Data is building at an unprecedented rate, with information now at the core of modern world economics. At Essex, we give you the power to transform clouds of data into information.
Our course introduces you to how ICT systems can be managed, and how business applications can be integrated. You gain the design, development, implementation and management skills to effectively manage these technologies, focussing on how ICT systems can support an organisation.
In particular, you specialise in the following topics:
- ICT management and architecture
- Business process modelling
- Document management and data repositories
- Internet routing protocols, Ethernet, and further IP networking
- Computer security and cryptography
Our School is a community of scholars leading the way in technological research and development. Today’s computer scientists are creative people who are focused and committed, yet restless and experimental. We are home to many of the world’s top scientists, and our work is driven by creativity and imagination as well as technical excellence.
We were ranked 8th in the UK in the 2015 Academic Ranking of World Universities, with more than two-thirds of our research rated “world-leading” or “internationally excellent” (REF 2014). And our students enjoy learning from our expert researchers – we are ranked 4th in the country with 97% student satisfaction (NSS).
