Overview
On this course you will be introduced to fundamental film and media theories and practical production techniques to develop an integrated range of knowledge, understanding and skills to be a highly trained practitioner of film and media. You will learn how to generate and develop ideas and adopt a creative approach to your studies. You will examine social and cultural contexts and be exposed to opportunities to engage with emerging areas of film and media studies and research, including; media archaeologies, social media studies and alternative media.
In the second and third years there are a range of options to enable you to develop your own areas of interest and expertise. Between the second and third year you can also take a year out to study abroad at a partner university or to do a placement year working in industry if you choose to study our four year course.

This course will prepare you for a career in film and television production in research, content creation, scriptwriting, camera, sound, lighting, editing, studio and location management, production management, producing and directing or you may prefer to continue your studies on our Master’s course in Digital Filmmaking. Graduates have also gone into teacher training.
