Dance and theatre are fundamentally intertwined as avenues for expressing meaning and emotion through performance, often co-existing in the same piece of work or creative spaces.
They align beautifully in this natural Major/Minor combination, which gives you the opportunity to master critical techniques that will enhance your understanding and enjoyment of both disciplines, and also to explore your own creative ideas.
It is a sound choice for students looking to build a career in the modern performance industries, and for those who wish to become familiar with the history, techniques and contexts of theatre and dance.
Learn to balance creative independence and artistic integrity with the ability to work collaboratively within a challenging professional context. You will learn about the history of choreography, how the body can be used to express ideas, what the latest technologies mean for dance, and how dance succeeds in the modern creative industries.
We’ll welcome you in to our thriving creative community, and support you as develop your ability to reflect critically on dance and its history while building your sense of self-awareness and aesthetics.
As a member of the School of Arts there are also countless opportunities for collaborations across disciplines using the rehearsal, recording and performance facilities on our unusually wellendowed campus.
Our unique approach to your personal, professional and intellectual development means you can look forward to developing a range of specific and transferable skills for independent critical and creative practice (especially if you take the option of a Professional Training placement year).
