This course aims to develop your spoken and written French to a high standard. You’ll spend your third year abroad, as a language assistant in a school or studying at a university.
You will also study French society and culture from the medieval period to the present day. Options include film studies, bande dessinée, social exclusion, modern French thought and the visual arts.
The philosophy side of the course is flexible. There are no compulsory modules. You can develop your understanding of key areas of philosophy such as ethics, philosophy of mind, theory of knowledge, political philosophy, metaphysics and logic. We also teach courses on major figures in the history of philosophy such as Plato, Aristotle, Descartes and Hegel.
Our graduates go into the civil service, media and advertising, translating and interpreting, business, law, charity, teaching and social work.
