You will study at Nottingham Business School full-time during your first and final year. Your second year will combine study with a full-time placement. By combining the two, you will gain an enhanced knowledge of business, as well as develop the skills that show employers you can manage heavy workloads and work to deadlines.
We also offer a 2 Year In-Company course, where students will spend their second and final year employed full-time. The content for each course is the same; it is just the delivery methods that differ.
Whichever course route you choose, you will graduate within three years, with a distinctive degree, and some impressive industry experience.
Why choose this course?

How will I learn?
Your first year of study will incorporate traditional modes of learning such as lectures and seminars, alongside business simulations, enterprise and project work, company projects and development plans and reports.
During your second year, you will complete modules predominantly at distance alongside working full-time. Your studies will be supported with online materials and you will return to the University for a number of study and recall days. You will be expected to prepare in advance for these days as they will be intensive and practical in their focus. You will receive feedback throughout your time on placement, and will be further supported by an academic mentor who will guide your development during this time.
You will return to Nottingham Business School for your final year, studying full-time and continuing to develop your practical insights and skills, through mentoring first year students and running a student-led conference.
How will I be assessed?
The assessment methods we use reflect the course learning outcomes and the work-based nature of the course. Most assessments are practice focused and will include: individual and group coursework and presentations; investigative and problem focused reports; learning and development portfolios, journals and reports; showcase events and consultancy project; case studies and action oriented research projects and related activities.
When learning in the work-place, the course and assessment design is of benefit to both you and your placement company as the majority of your assignments will be based on your own work and that of the placement company.
Unlike traditional four-year placement degrees learning during this time will count towards your final degree.
Where will I study?
When studying full-time you will attend lectures and seminars at NTU’s City site, in the impressive Newton building, home to Nottingham Business School.
Virtual learning environment
You will have access to our virtual learning environment, NOW, which is a flexible web-based system that gives you 24-hour access to module learning materials and reading lists. It allows you to discuss work with tutors and submit coursework electronically from anywhere in the world.
