A relevant portfolio is required.
Your portfolio should include evidence of the processes behind final work (e.g. drawing and sketches; try to include observational drawings and Computer Aided Design (CAD) work), examples of practical work (including toiles/muslins and final garments or outfits), and images of your final work (e.g. catwalk/runway show, ‘look-book’ or photo-shoot). Please include a variety of projects in your portfolio. Your portfolio should not exceed six pages in length or ten megabytes in size.
The MA Fashion Design at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton, provides a programme in which you can develop your skills and knowledge in your field of interest. The programme equips you with both the practical skills and the intellectual framework, appropriate to your specialism, to allow you to work competently at a master’s level. It provides you with the tools to engage with your field, to take part in current debates regarding the issues influencing it and to judge your own outcomes within this context.
his practice-led pathway will allow you to extend your knowledge and understanding of fashion design through an individually negotiated project, underpinned by research and creative practice. You will work across traditional and experimental boundaries, critically evaluating your working processes, methodologies and ideas.
Core areas include: CAD for fashion; construction techniques and materials; experimental practice; fashion marketing; fashion portfolio skills; and research skills for fashion.
This programme is one of the MA Design pathways which require you to present a portfolio of work.
