Overview

This course gives students a unique and exciting opportunity to study science and health studies which can lead to a career in medicine, the healthcare sciences and other healthcare professions. This collaborative course offers transfer routes to Leeds MBChB programme with many Clinical Sciences graduates progressing to other UK Medical Schools.

The focus is on providing a high-quality, multidisciplinary course that is designed to encourage students, particularly in the local region, from a wide range of backgrounds to enter medical and healthcare education, widening participation for students from underrepresented groups. This course will provide you with the essential knowledge and key skills to underpin today’s ever-changing health service, and to meet the needs of the local community. There will be opportunities on both courses for short periods of experiential training in a variety of healthcare settings.

Career opportunities

A major aim of the course is to provide for the NHS needs of the local community. Opportunities for graduates of the Bradford Clinical Sciences course include graduate-entry medicine and careers within the NHS that contribute directly to patient care, ranging from health service management, healthcare sciences, financial management, clinical psychology and primary care. Students have also progressed onto postgraduate degrees or into science teaching. The highly successful pharmaceutical industry also offers a wide variety of careers where you will be able to use your knowledge and skills to improve healthcare in the UK and worldwide, including clinical trials, registration and regulatory affairs.

Employment six months after the course was 100% of the 2011 Clinical Sciences graduates (most recent data).

The average starting salary for the 2011 Clinical Sciences graduates was £19,000.
