Business and Management Studies degree is ideal if you want to follow a broad business and management course rather than specialise in a particular area at this stage. People who can combine a clear understanding of core business and management functions, good problem-solving and decision making skills, the ability to think creatively and to communicate effectively are in demand throughout the economy.

Our undergraduate courses in Business and Management Studies, Marketing, Accounting and Finance, Financial Planning, International Business and Management, Human Resource Management, and Operations and Information Management share a common first year, so you can switch between them at the end of the first year, subject to satisfactory performance.

The course will provide you with a thorough grounding in management theory and practice with the opportunity to specialise in a functional area.

The School’s strategy encompasses ‘business engagement’ and all our courses focus strongly on relating academic study to the ‘real’ world of employment.

This course develops your personal and professional skills, and you will have many opportunities to develop your ability to make presentations, engage in teamwork and deal with information technology.

Our Effective Learning Service provides support for learning covering all aspects of study, from writing good assignments to preparing for examinations.

The course offers you the chance to spend part of your second year studying in Europe, Canada, North America, Australia or Hong Kong following equivalent modules to our own, for which you will receive full credit. However, this could have implications for professional body exemptions.

Assessment involves a combination of coursework assessments and formal examinations held at the end of each semester. Your first-year assessments are for progression; your second-year and final-year assessments count towards the classification of your degree.
