Overview
Tourism is a cornerstone of Visit Britain’s wise growth strategy, part of the national strategic framework for tourism. Our degree is designed to equip you with the relevant knowledge and skills to engage in effective dialogue and partnership working with relevant stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and sustainable approach to tourism development.
Programme structure
Starting with an underpinning of the marketing mix in the first year, with assessment based on real life marketing problems, students continue their studies with modules investigating the psychology of consumer behaviour and the contemporary world of branding, before analysing the components of digital marketing strategies and choosing whether to specialise in areas of sports, luxury or not-for-profit marketing. To complement your marketing learning you’ll also have the opportunity to undertake studies in key business areas such as human resources, accounts, law, research skills and business decision making.
In your final year, the final year modules in global marketing and integrated marketing communications are studied alongside your management report, prior to undertaking a marketing internship for 10 weeks or 2 optional taught modules.
While sustainability in tourism is not a new issue, our emphasis on theory to practice is designed to ensure you become highly-qualified with sound academic and vocational experience to drive forward the wider sector adoption and implementation of sustainable tourism strategies.
